Lucas Santana & Strings

Amsterdam: where cultures collide and creativity flourishes.
It was in this vibrant city that Brazilian musician Lucas Santana crossed paths with the classical music department at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2015—a meeting that would spark something truly unique.

Fusing the soulful spirit of a jazz ensemble with the refined elegance of a string quartet, the group set out to explore uncharted musical territory. Their mission: to blend the rich palette of classical textures with the spontaneity of jazz—improvisation, lush harmonies, and rhythmic freedom—all in service of elevating traditional Brazilian music and original compositions by Lucas himself.

The concept of bridging Brazilian rhythms with classical tradition isn’t new—but what breathes new life into it is the shared passion of musicians who believe in the power of music to connect, uplift, and inspire. This is more than a fusion; it’s a celebration of culture, creativity, and heartfelt collaboration.
